The Biophotonic Instrumentation Group is developing new optical methods for the diagnostics of the future.

The Biophotonic Instrumentation Group at the Department of Medical Technology and Biotechnology at Ernst Abbe University of Applied Sciences in Jena is dedicated to developing modern optical technologies that will enable more precise and gentler diagnostics of diseases.

The focus is on imaging techniques, microscopy, spectroscopy, and the use of artificial intelligence to solve complex challenges in biomedical research. The projects benefit from an interdisciplinary approach and the commitment of a young, highly qualified team—many of whose members are graduates of the MT/BT department themselves.

The group works closely with internal and external partners and covers a wide range of expertise. This thematic diversity is the basis for innovative solutions that can improve not only the diagnosis but also the treatment of diseases in the long term.

With the continuous expansion of its research activities, EAH Jena aims to further strengthen its role in regional and international biomedical research. The goal is to actively transfer scientific findings into healthcare and thus contribute to the medicine of the future.
